Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

Here was the scene a few weeks ago at Monty's Korner: Jason Finkbeiner and Joe Tunis are strumming acoustic guitars to no discernible melody for perhaps 10 minutes, before John Schoen joins in on zither, Tunis abandoning his guitar in favor of a Tibetan prayer bowl. He plays it by running his finger around the edge, producing a high-pitched tone, like one of those novelty acts massaging half-filled wine glasses on the Ed Sullivan Show. This group is Pengo, one of the darkest of the leading lights on Rochester's noise scene.
