- Artist: Argumentix
- Title: Tarantula Downpour
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Trash Skull Records (USA)
- Price:
$8.00$4.80 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_TS01
NOTE: this is a 7" vinyl and DVDR release!!!! - "My first VINYL RELEASE! Side A: “Tarantula Downpour Glass of Wine for Dinner” is based on an all too realistic dream about post-modern identity drowning itself in lack of confidence. It’s also about mind-control through chemical warfare by both force and volunteer. What if the apocalypse has already come and gone and this is just us trying to make sense of the end times?
Side B: “Lend Me your Blanket (I Wanna Dream About You)” is a love song to James’s dead mother. She rests inside his voice and Argumentix feels her spirit when he sings. Of course, she would have also thought this music was really strange.
DVDR includes 8 original animated videos by James Squeaky, including a video for “Tarantula Downpour,” along with songs from various other releases. They range from crude drawings and feline adventures to dense rotating patterns of melting color."

- Artist: Aufgehoben
- Title: Axiologue / Thermidor One Five
- Format: 7inch
- Label: white denim
- Price:
$5.00$3.00 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_WD12
(PICTURE DISC) - "Crafted in their fine tradition, Aufgehoben continue to carve harsh chunks of noise with this, their first departure on 7" vinyl. Guitar and electronics sound like neither, while sprawling percussion tumbles across the rotten landscape. The two tracks on this monochromatic record jump right for the jugular, leaving little time for subtlety or reflection. Not recommended for antique styluses. There are 524 copies of this picture disc record."

- Artist: Bhob Rainey
- Title: Two Bites of a Bitter Sweet
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Evolving Ear (USA)
- Price:
$7.00$4.20 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_EE17
"Bhob Rainey is an established bigwig of the global improv/noise/experimental underground as a result of his work alongside trumpeter Greg Kelley in the influential duo, nmperign, his direction of the improvising juggernaut, The BSC, and his numerous solo works and collaborations with the likes of Jason Lescalleet, Gunter Muller, Ralf Wehowsky, Le Quan Ninh, Alessandro Bosetti, and Michel Doneda, among others.
Two Bites of a Bitter Sweet is his first release of purely electronic music, and Evolving Ear is tickled to be the messenger on this one. The material on the two side-long, 33rpm pieces ranges from homemade synth textures to field recordings from Lisbon, Venice, Huelva, and other, unremembered locations. There's some singing by Naomi Yang (Damon and Naomi) and Bhob himself, and some words of wisdom from Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Overall, a woozy alternate reality is offered for repeated dream pool swims.
Beautiful, hallucinatory artwork by Elaine Kaufmann."

- Price:
$5.00$3.00 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_eeaoa04
Colin's sophomore effort from 1999 continues in a vein similar to that of his first record. The digital, mechanical sounds are still present but are now intertwined with deep tones and hidden half-melodies.

"Fairly structured, and no uncontrolled noise-bleedings. But; exotic drums, guitar textures, drifting loops and source-sounds from seventies erotic cannibal films. Building towards a quite stunning climax. Personell are Kjell R. Jenssen on percussion, Lasse Marhaug on mixing and construction, Per Gisle Galåen on guitartreatment and Fredric Sevendal as guitar-slave. 33 rpm, edition of 500 where 50 are on heavy blue vinyl (sold out), 250 are on transparent green spotted vinyl and 200 are on heavy black vinyl."

four new songs bringing the lofi-era back to life. Fields of gaffney is the new band of Eric gaffney, co-founder of sebadoh. though his releases over the past ten years have been very rare, he has lost nothing of his songwriting talents: these songs can easily stand the comparison with the songs he wrote for the critically acclaimed albums ‘III‘ and ‘bubble and scrape‘. this is his first single since his contribution to sub pop‘s singles club in 2000. Two new Pernath-hits as well. songs about mad cows and saying goodbye in spanish - for fans of swearing at motorists. a welcome follow-up to their split single with bingo trappers, wio and mongrell

- Artist: Iovae / 3 Legged Race
- Title: split
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Epicene Sound System (USA)
- Price:
$6.00$3.60 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_ESS011
"Two of my favorite modern noise makers from the states have to be HAIR POLICE and IOVAE. This is very close to being a split from both. IOVAE is Ron Orovitz also known as the D.J. on ART DAMAGE RADIO, a memeber of the no-wave nosie group DEATH BEAM, a noise weirdos WILD GUNMAN. For IOVAE's track we get slow churning crackle, pop and hiss from the "Grinder" (a series of ancient military oscillators) that builds into what sounds like the church bell tones of a satanic mass echoing through the devils canyon.
3 LEGGED RACE is Robert from HAIR POLICE and EYES AND ARMS OF SMOKE. For the Race side we get one ominous heavenly droning swelling tone which is given the extreme reverb treatment until it sounds like a white washed blissed out radiant hum.
The artwork was designed by Robert and is a must see. One sheet of lines with a transparency of lines. but when one is placed over the othere, you start to see a hidden image. Also just moving the transparency around on top of the other page makes alot of tripped out intersecting lines. like i said one you have to see, def one of the best looking, most intresting covers in EPICENE history.
Limited edition of 300 copies, split release with Mark of Black Tent's Gentian label."

- Title: at Royspytten
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Killer (Norway)
- Price:
$7.00$4.20 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_Killer009
"The same Origami Arktika dreamteam line up as the last single on killer - at Snippen. This time the Norwegian folk music undercurrents are even more pronounced, including their very own version of a Jørund Telnes song (Norwegian folk music performer). Since last time the band has released several CDs - >brook< - a spilt CD with Lull and a live CD from Poland. This single is the first material to arrive from their latest session and hopefully the rest of this material sees the light of day. Origami Arktika sounds like nothing else on earth, a bit folk music, a bit drone rock, a bit outlandish as a freeform arctic storm. Personnel are Tore H. Bøe, Kai S. Mikalsen, Bjarne Larsen, Rune Flaten and Kjell Ø. Braaten. Current activities include Salvatore, several Origami fractions, Kobi, Ka, Sketch, Palace of Pleasure and a lot more. Beautiful colour cover courtesy of Jarle Hrafn Grindhaug. 45 rpm, edition of 300 where 100 are on dark lilac vinyl "

Scrawled in crayon for ages. here‘s the emotionally direct art out of scribbles that has rushed through the Detroit underground electronica scene in the past years. Having spent several months on teethgnarling and ankle surgery - Eric Cook decided to abandon the limitations of group affinities. Without surrendering his alternative wider shorelines. quickly noticing the amount of output was inversely proportional to the number of people involved in the project . Since then he‘s kept on processing source sounds into glorious cacophony. The title-track centres around the contradictory nature of the guitar. where technology makes primitive wood and wire howl. The abrasive artificial hiccup sound explores multiple paths. creating a troubling almost chokelike atmosphere from a suspenseful distressed blues riff. that shakes nostalgic hands with Cook‘s tribute to the ill-conceived psych-blues of Muddy Waters and his musical past with groups as Bantam Rooster and Gravitar. His organic manipulations. filmic approach and hyperelectronic excursions into caffeine headaches have kept his music away from being morphed into a complete disorientated clich. Not all caught up in smoke since he shakes studio hands briefly with His Name Is Alive‘s Warn Defever. If it wasn‘t agreed to walk and spin out weepily dancefloor expression. it would be a fairly accurate description of ecstatic torchlighting and ghost talking. You weren‘t listening... ? Yeah we ‘ re all uptight about it...

- Artist: Popular Shapes
- Title: B-Ball Music
- Format: 7inch
- Label: white denim
- Price:
$5.00$3.00 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_wd08
"As the last will and testament of Popular Shapes, 'B-Ball Music' is clearly Popular Shapes' most focused and cohesive effort. Savvy listeners will be reminded of The Fall, Le Shok, The Victims and Wire within these two tracks, assuming they weren't knocked over by the sweaty bodies splashing wine from a box. Intricate guitar interplay coasts freely like the plot of The OC while squirmy vocals free themselves from a box. The emphasis is clearly on song-writing, but the exuberance of four boys patting each other shirtless remains as bright a glare as Ford Explorer floodlights. It's rare that a band comes along where all the pieces fit seamlessly, equally throbbing and subdued. 'B-Ball Music' is just that, with equal parts Kobe and Shaq.
There are 10 test pressings, each on black vinyl with handmade covers. There are 835 copies on white vinyl with orange, clear and black spatters, each with a full-color hardstock jacket."

- Artist: Russian Tsarlag / Lesson Lesson Lessen Relearn
- Title: split
- Format: 7inch
- Label: West Palm Beotch (USA)
- Price: $4.00
- Catalog ID: CarbonDist_WPBR007
Two longtime and long distance comrades on one piece of wax. Random marble-colored vinyl with full color pro printed covers.
Russian Tsarlag is Providence musician/filmmaker/artist/Kinky Noise Records CEO Carlos Gonzalez. Tsarlag contributes what could be considered the soundtrack to a late-night teenage creep cult pep rally; his most plugged in and power chorded ripper yet. It's the perfect progression from his "Community Death Tube" LP (Night People) and split 12" with Blue Shift (Rare Youth). Kind of reminds me of early Chrome without the tacky electronics.
Lesson Lesson Lessen Relearn is the ongoing project of What's YR Damage?'s Nelson Hallonquist. His side slows things down, way down, with a warped out analog burner. Thick synths, oscillations, finger piano, and the contents of a warbled tape found in a public garbage are utilized, in which two men contemplate a body transcending experience via the metaphysics of sports. Weird shit.

- Artist: Sharks with Wings / Paper Legs
- Title: split
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Heat Retention Records (USA)
- Price:
$4.00$2.40 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_HRR011
"Nice split this time from a couple of East Coast groups who've floated under my radar thus far. The single by Paper Legs and Sharks W/ Wings (Heat Retention 7") is packed inside a handsome silk- screened sleeve. Paper Legs have a very nice clattery sound, like a fat-ass freak rumble inside some gamelan storage room. The Sharks W/ Wings track is more in the line of Midwest US electronic murk, but without as much high-end caterwaul we've come to expect." -Byron Coley (The Wire)

- Artist: Shop Class Squares
- Title: bad black burn
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Carbon Records
- Price:
$3.00$1.80 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CR06
Final Documentation of probably the most hated band in Rochester. Too noisy and weird for the fonzies(garage rock nazis) too lowbrow and abrasive for the art crowd. Cut from the same garbage heap as the Electric Eels and the Fucking Flying A-Heads. Ex members now serving time in a detox center near you.

- Artist: these are powers
- Title: silver lung
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Elsie and Jack
- Price:
$5.00$3.00 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_eaj701
"These Are Powers forge future-primitive songs from inspiration such as dreams, spiritual mysticism, art movements like Der Blaue Reiter, globalization, supernatural phenomena, and the prophecies of a UFO-obsessed cab driver. These influences constitute a transcendent and visceral sound the Brooklyn trio has christened Ghost-Punk. The unconventionality of the band also rules their process. Drummer Ted McGrath eschews a traditional high-hat setup in order to take full advantage of a limited kit, creating inventive percussive patterns. Likewise, bassist/vocalist Pat Noecker (Liars, n0 things) and guitarist/vocalist Anna Barie (Knife Skills) achieve uniquely deconstructive tones via prepared guitar and experimentation. These Are Powers’ live performances resound in both volume and pure emotional intensity, as songs sway from meditative hymns to resonant dirges, audience and band share equally in the awakening."

- Artist: Tore Honore Boe
- Title: Knekk
- Format: 7inch
- Label: Killer (Norway)
- Price:
$7.00$4.20 (40% sale) - Catalog ID: CarbonDist_Killer010
"Tore H. Bøe should by all rights be well known to you all from his many years as a performing artist. Sometimes in various Origami fractions, sometimes in different hotshot bands and sometimes on his own, as he is on this single. Alone Tore specialises in micromanipulations. Glitch without a Laptop. The wonderful world of contact microphones. The comfort of objects. Tapes and trolls. The seriously stunning Siesta on CD last year was a revelation. Now he's moving to Gran Canaria to set up recording facilities to be known as Hacienda. Could be well worth a visit. Righteous colour cover by Tore himself, now to be known as a designer also. 45 rpm, edition of 300 where 100 are on clear tangerine vinyl"
